ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
FRED VAN LEEUWEN
Fred van Leeuwen is a UK-based landscape photographer and filmmaker. His work captures the often dramatic nature of the natural environment, from the rugged coastlines of Wales and the Scottish Highlands to the vast expanses of Southern Africa.
Fred’s creative journey began in 2007 in the high-energy world of commercial and concert photography. Today, he has traded the roar of international festivals for absolute stillness in nature. Using atmospheric light, long exposures, and story-driven filmmaking, he creates imagery that evokes a profound sense of wonder and reflection.
Finding Meaning in the Landscape
Fred explores common themes of scale, isolation, contrast, and the delicate tension between vulnerability and resilience. He frequently embraces harsh conditions to find deeper purpose in the landscape, continually asking himself, “Why do I shoot?” as he continues his journey of discovery.
Fine Art & Limited-Edition Prints
Fred’s limited-edition prints are tangible extensions of this philosophy, crafted to bring the untamed world into your living room or office. Spanning the misty woodlands of the UK to the sun-baked plains of Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and South Africa, each piece represents a carefully curated moment in time.
Produced on museum-grade archival paper and printed using a giclee process, these large panoramic prints are designed to anchor a room. Investing in a print offers an escape and an everlasting, tactile bond to some of the most beautiful locations on Earth.
The YouTube Channel
Alongside his fine art collections, Fred shares his process on YouTube. Through behind-the-scenes adventures, editing tutorials, and short films that aim to instill authentic storytelling, emotion, and the profound experience of truly connecting with the land.
