Fred van Leeuwen – Frequently Asked Questions

What printing materials and quality do you use for your fine art prints?

Fred’s landscape prints are produced to the highest archival standards. Each image is printed as a Giclée on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl 285gsm paper, a premium bright-white photographic paper with a subtle pearlescent finish. This paper is acid- and lignin-free with an inkjet coating tailored for longevity. The result is exceptional colour depth, sharp detail, and deep blacks. In fact, each limited-edition print is signed by Fred and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. These prints are designed to be fade-resistant and retain their quality for generations.

In what sizes and formats can I purchase your landscape prints?

Print sizes vary from standard formats to large panoramic editions. For example, Fred offers prints as small as about 12×18 inches (as seen in Lightning Above the Bay) up to very large panoramas like 16×48 inches (e.g. Bazaruto Beach). Every print is a high-resolution Giclée on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl (285gsm). By default, prints are sold unframed so you can choose your own frame; a professionally framed option is available by special request for an additional fee. Every print order includes the unframed artwork plus the signed authenticity certificate.

Are the prints signed and limited edition?

Yes. Each landscape print is a limited-edition print that Fred personally signs. Every print comes with a matching Certificate of Authenticity that guarantees the edition and provenance. The combination of archival ink, premium paper, a hand signature, and an official certificate means you’re getting a museum-quality art piece that’s meant to be collected and enjoyed over a lifetime.

How long does delivery take and do you ship internationally?

Fred’s fine art prints are made and shipped from the UK. Typical lead times for printing and dispatch are 3–7 business days for orders within the UK and EU. Worldwide shipping is also available, but delivery times may be longer depending on the destination country and customs procedures. Customers are notified when the print ships. In the UK, shipping is usually quite fast, while international orders may take longer; please allow extra time for delivery when ordering from outside Europe.

Can I order a framed print?

Yes – although standard orders are unframed, Fred can arrange custom framing if you prefer. By default the prints arrive unmounted so you can pick a frame that matches your décor. If you would like a print framed, just mention this when you order or inquire via the contact form. Framing is provided at an additional cost, and Fred will work with you on frame style and shipping to ensure the framed print arrives safely.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

Fred takes great care in producing each print, but he also honors consumer protection rights. For physical prints, UK law grants a 14-day right of return after delivery. To return a print, you should contact Fred within 14 days of receiving it. The print must be unused and returned in its original packaging and condition. The buyer is responsible for return postage unless the print arrived damaged or defective. Once the print is received back in good condition, a full refund will be issued to your original payment method within 14 days. (If a returned print is damaged or not in original condition, Fred may issue only a partial refund.) Custom or personalized prints (such as special sizes or frame commissions) are non-refundable unless they arrive defective. If your print does arrive damaged or faulty, contact Fred immediately with photos; he will arrange a replacement or full refund at no extra cost. For digital products (like the free e-book), all sales are final; once a download link is provided, UK law waives the right to cancel.

Do you offer digital downloads of images or licensing for commercial use?

The store currently offers a free e-book ("Finding Compositions In Landscapes") as a digital download. Aside from that, Fred does not sell image files for public download. All images and prints are copyrighted by Fred van Leeuwen (as noted on the site). Digital downloads (including the free e-book) are delivered by link and are non-refundable once delivered. If you need a license to use any image (for publication, corporate use, etc.), you should contact Fred directly. Inquiries for custom licenses or large-format digital requirements can be made via the Contact page or by email – reach out with details of your project to get a quote (contact info is on the site).
